Fur No Fur it's alright with me

Some Students living on campus at piedmont have a hard time bringing their pets to school and some students have no worriers at all bringing their pets to school with them. According to The animal policy at piedmont is that the students cannot have any animals in their room that has fur. Most of the animals that the students have on campus are reptiles or fish. The rule may sound a little unfair for the student who small pets that contains fur such as hamsters, but for a couple of big university’s the rules are much different. According to the student handbooks of Cleveland State University and the University of Cincinnati animal policy says that the only animals they are allowed to have are fish. Having animals in dorms I feel should definitely be limited if you have a roommate because someone might be allergic to animals, but for those who do not have roommates should be able to have what they want. According to www.sixwise.com, found that 54.3 percent of Americans between the ages of 6 and 59 tested positive to one or more allergens. A positive test also means that the person has a greater risk of asthma, hay fever and eczema. The allergies that are connected to animals are not as common as others, but fury animals may trigger one of these allergies according to revolutionhealth.com animals with fur can be very irritating to someone with this kind of infection. I do feel that someone that has to pay to go to school and live in a dorm should at least be able to have a small pet if they live by themselves. Why should those students have to suffer because they want to bring a small pet, but they have to deal with their roommate’s ten foot python? Students at Piedmont are here for a degree so maybe the animal policy should just say no animals of any kind should be allowed in the place of rest. If a student really likes animals the door is open for them to have them, but maybe not the kind that they want. I feel the students should enjoy the privilege of being able to have any type of pet while their in college. For the students that have allergies should request to be moved to another room maybe with a friend, or someone that also has allergies. The rule is alright with me.

Better to be lower

Underage drinking has been a huge problem on college campuses for a long time, mainly because of the drinking age. On August 18th close to 100 college presidents of some of the biggest and well-known universities considered to lower the drinking age from 21 to 18. Some of these Colleges were Syracuse, Tufts, Colgate, Morehouse, and Ohio State.

The presidents from each of theses institutions know that there is a problem on college campuses and they are not trying to hide this problem from the public. Underage drinking can be either a huge problem or a small problem. I say that becasue if this law is passed not only will underage students not have to sneak and drink, but this will also reduce the crime on campus. The huge problem would be that if they don't pass the law then the college campuses will have the same problems. I feel that the law should be passed to change the drinkin age because at 18 years of age you are considered to be an adult meaning that we can vote, take a driving test without reciving temporary licsence, smoke, and be tried as an adult in the court of law being sent to prison. All of these activities that I have just mentiond considers us as being adults, but the one thing that is missing is dinking, which is backwards to me because you can smoke at age 18 which may cause someone to be around an evn stronger drug such as marijana. So my question is why not change the drinking age to 18? because we can do everything else at age 18 and we are considered to be adults so let us be adults.

The American Medical Association links drinking to 1,400 deaths, 500,000 injuries and 70,000 sexual assault cases on college campuses each year. USA today also says that The drinking age has been the hot topic on college campuses. For the past five years, four states have considered lowering the age from 21 to 18. John McCardell a former college president created an group named Choose Responsibility. This group pushes for age 18, with an education and licensing program. more than 30,000 students have signed the pro-18 online petition.
The pro-18 says this; If you are an 18-year-olds you are allowed to vote and serve in the U.S army, and ought to be able to drink. At the age 21 is simlpy saying respect for the law and prevents young adults from learning how to drink responsible while at home before they step onto a college campus. When students arrive, the age 21 law prevents the young adults from drinking in restaurants or bars. So students huddle in dorm rooms or fraternity hosues where binge drinking takes place. Not lowering the drinking age cause more trouble on college campuses. Every year almost three hundred thosand people die from smoking and other harmful drugs, and one hundred thousand people die from alcohol related incedents http://www.cdc.gov/ncipc/factsheets/drving.htm

After doing a little research I realized that the problem is not the drinking age, but it is the way our government goes about them. Most college students like to have fun and with the law not to prohibuit underage drinking causes the students to break the rules. Every students knows that it's not right to drink a lot but its the thrill for them and the fun that they have while drinking so as college students say "they don't stop until they drop". All young adults have a choice to drink or not to drink, but they do what they want so they drink. when people say it was pure pressure I don't believe that because if it's not forced you make the decision. So yes I feel that the drinking age should be lowered to 18 because students are going to do it anyway, and I think that it would reduce the crime on college campuses.
